Blazing River Freedom Band is Cleveland’s only LGBT and ally concert and marching band. Founded in 2003, the band is open to everyone 18 and up, regardless of sexuality, gender identity, or musical skill level. BRFB performs 4 to 5 concerts per year, thanks in part to funding from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Repertoire encompasses a wide range of difficulty and genres, so there’s always something for everyone – band and audience members alike. The band holds rehearsals and concerts at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Tremont. They also perform at community events such as Pride in the CLE and Lakewood’s 4th of July parade. They are a member of two national organizations, Lesbian Gay Band Association and the Association of Concert Bands. BRFB aims to foster a musical culture within its local and national community while improving the quality of artistry and musicianship of its members, one note at a time. Blazing River Freedom Band is excited to partner with Battle of the Teal and encourage youth to pursue their passion of the arts. http://www.blazingriverband.org/
Alysia has the ability to connect with an audience through a gift that comes naturally but it is her spirit that truly embodies the very essence of what talent is. As a native of Cleveland, Ohio she attended Cleveland School of the Arts from grades 6-12th and was afforded the opportunity to perform at some of Cleveland's most prestigious Halls and Theater's such as the Allen Theater, Severance Hall, The Cleveland Institute of Music and The Playhouse Theater to name a few. However, since High School she has gone on to travel throughout the U.S. singing background vocals for International Recording Artist Conya Doss where she has shared the stage with other artist such as Leelah James, Anthony Hamilton, and Kem. In 2014 Alysia launched "A Night for Hope" which was a benefit concert for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge. After receiving several requests to bring awareness to other causes, she has decided to make this an annual event, in an effort to reach out to humanity in yet another avenue. Although Alysia sings classical, jazz, R&B, blues, and gospel it is not about the genre, but it is the message that she conveys that means the most to her. She longs to give Gods people a message of love, hope and peace. She desires to leave an impact and her music is her vessel. In 2016, she released her first single on all major outlets, entitled "More of You" and this has been one of her greatest accomplishments! Who knows what this artist, philanthropist, and Minister is going to set next as her goal but she is excited for any challenge!
